I strongly recommend La Reina Del Sur. Starring Kate Del Castillo, it was initially a brief series on Telemundo.

For a similar storyline (character names are often the same, actual activity is vastly different) try Queen of the South. (um, yes, that's the English language title translated from the aforementioned Spanish language series. with Hemky Madera and Alice Braga it's good too.
