My teacher book says that the following is a subject question. But because of the "we" in the sentence my students need a better explanation than what I have given them so far. They insist this is an object question. What do you say? How would you explain it? I appreciate your time.

I agree with your students. Consider the answer...
We will eat
sandwiches for lunch today.
The subject is "we". The answer ("sandwiches") is the object.
