I need to force my mac to stop using icloud altogether and start using local storage. If need be, I will use icloud when I want to use it. not when our apple corporate overlords want me to.

I use a lot of flash drives that I keep in a safe spot unhared with anything.
You may need to disable some of the routing included in your IP's bag of tools
