I left Christianity in the early 1990 shortly after I was in a room full of Christians cheering the images of trucks being bombed in the gulf war. The blatant logical inconsistency of people who wanted to save souls for Jesus cheering people being killed by bombs was a little too much for me to take.

Most Christians in America are Conservative Patriots. Neither Conservatism nor Patriotism have any place in the Bible... they are just using the name of Jesus to push a rather harsh political ideology.

There are Christians who are bringing water to migrants in the Arizona desert. They are my heroes. But conservative Christians want the real Christians to be arrested.

@maxdog,
The majority of people who call themselves Christian make the World a far worse place.

Yeates got it right.

The best lack all conviction while the worst are full of passionate intensity.

@maxdog,
At least my sentences are coherent. It's no exaggeration, the cruellest people I've ever known have all been very religious.

@maxdog,
No it doesn't. We got on very well before Augustine brought his bollocks to these shores.

Your posts seem to be wish fulfilment and nothing else. Christianity in Northern Ireland fuels sectarian conflict. That's why there were years of sectarian murders and other atrocities, and even now after the Good Friday agreement has been signed there's a huge "peace wall" keeping two "Christian" groups apart.

This is what it looks like from the Nationalist side.

We'd have been much better off sticking with Wotan.
And this is the Unionist angle.

I strongly suspect that religion helps a society be peaceful and supportive. It clearly doeant need to be Christianity. You could have had the same experience in a Muslim Jewish or Hindu family.
