@knaivete,
I don't know, can you help me? By explaining and possibly answering your own question? If not, feel free to move on.

@knaivete,
radical sign or square root sign - s or r
dash or negative sign - d or n
one - o
two - t
^ exponent - e
3 - t
sigma - s
pi - p

I am not getting a word. What kind of puzzle would this fall under?
I would like to study questions of this nature.

@gmanc1409,
The collective noun is rebus, however I have added a lateral thinking puzzle.

What day was it when √-1 2^3 ∑ π?

√-1 ..... i
2^3 ..... 8
∑ ..... sum
π ..... pi

What day of the year was it?

Can you work it out or should I reveal the answer?

@gmanc1409,
OK.... Here is a question

There are five people in a room. Eight people leave. How many people need to reenter the room for it to be empty?

@maxdancona,
A biologist, a physicist and a mathematician were sitting in a street cafe watching the crowd. Across the street they saw a man and a woman entering a building. Ten minutes they reappeared together with a third person.

- They have multiplied, said the biologist.
- Oh no, an error in measurement, the physicist sighed.
- If exactly one person enters the building now, it will be empty again, the mathematician concluded.
