I feel really guilty having a private conversation with someone thats completely off topic when:

1) the thread wasn't my creation
2) the thread is usually something really serious
3) we aren't inviting the others.

i usually try to stop the conversation. It just seems a bit inconsiderate.

I don't feel that way at all . . .

Why did you switch from the cute animals to the PRC flag?

I don't know if you know about the issue of defectors running to australia at the moment defaming the gov of china...but there is such an issue and so i thought I would show a bit of patriotic spirit:

Cute animals will be coming back soon. I'm thinking a porcupine.

Oh no, I've digressed into a personal conversation again...

I like the Hong Kong flag. It's a bauhinia flower, and we used to have a tree in our garden there, under which we had many a merry lunch party.

I was hoping to induce such a response. I love to derail threads, and the seriouser the betterer.

Don't I know you so well Set - I had a feeling you had that underlying intention. Laughing

Have you seen my new avatar and the commentary signature of mine?

You spend far too little time discussing non-political stuff ... if you did, we might even come to think of you as a human being!

Well, do you ever log on to a2k and are reading along like maybe about what Beth and Soz are wearing today or like what Francis is doing with roses (sipping your tea) and then you come across some really inane and grossly stupid post on some like politial thread or maybe a post about how the the christians in america are being victimized by atheisits (or Frank) and just know you gotta post something but you really don't have anything to say, but, damn it, you go go ahead and post sometime that has no reason to be said other than you just needed to say something?
I do that.
Dyslexia, I've seen your post on the political threads. You usually make more sense in one sentence then people make in a whole page and it's funny to.Most of the time people try to use a bunch of big words mixed in with some crap they found on the inernet.Nothing wrong with a little hit and run.But i'm new here.Seeya in the war zones.Later

Sometimes dallying and meandering are so delightful that I want it to continue. Setanta and Lord Ellpus are two that I would follow anywhere. Dys sometimes meanders, but his brief comments are mostly right on spot, to the consternation of those he is correcting. Of course, I would follow ol' sweet cheeks anywhere, anytime.

Lord Ellpus showing up here recently has really brought a blush to the cheeks of a2k... whenever he posts, on topic or off.

(and I always read what Set or Dys and Diane say)

Well, it depends on the thread. I always acknowledge everyone on my own threads, but that's just my style. That won't change, either, but when something is done just for fun or a serious observation, then it doesn't matter.
