British IKEA a huge disappointment

The Reading store

Order 105 885 5286

Travelled two hours there and back on Monday 21 October 2019

Ricardo was told I wanted a billy set of two book shelves but ordered gnedby as I realized on return

Repeated journey yesterday and met katarzyna who worked relentlessly to order new items. Jo had said bring a large wardrobe from the bargain dept and add to delivery list.

Spent an hour dismantling it and dragging it around to be told Reading does not deliver to my address.

I request that the depot which is sending my delivery finds a bargain HIGH wardrobe and adds it to the delivery.

Failing that, Reading can find the trolley with the dismantled wardrobe on it and let me know that it will be delivered when there is a van in my area.

Before going to Reading spent a long while making a list of things wanted. Cannot understand why the Ricardo member of staff could not see that the Billy bookshelves I wanted comprised two units for 100 Pounds GB and not one at 150.

Since the two days up and down to Reading I have had too much time trying to connect to IKEA to speak to someone. Eventually, a “manager” said that IKEA cannot do anything to solve the problem except give me a voucher for 20 pounds.

The website is nothing but a joke. Via Complaints, I put my phone number in to be told it must be a USA or Canadian number. Other problems as well.

The latest event is an email from Get-Human which asked if the problem had been resolved. It is impossible to reply.

All I wanted was a 6ft or 7ft length By 2ft to 3ft wide or two of Brownish “Wood” to add to my over 450 pounds order. I don’t. mind paying for it as a bargain dept item but not an extra 39 Pounds delivery. No economic sense at all.

@ProfAlanFHarrison,
I live in Southampton, we've had an IKEA store for a long time.

I've never been, and don't intend to. Anywhere that makes you walk a specific route instead of just going in or out is a definite no no.

This is a predominantly American forum btw, so your post isn't likely to have that much of an impact.

And I was going to move to Reading, England just because they have an Ikea. Now? I have doubts about that plan. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

@tsarstepan,
Your doubts are well founded, Ricky Gervais is from Reading.
