Skype Picture Reduced to Centre of Screen

When you say you've tried everything, does that include uninstalling the app and reinstalling? Better yet, could you tell us what you've done?

Skype has been uninstalled and reinstalled several times and all the settings checked and rechecked.
This question is relating to a friend skyping me from an android phone and me having a desktop, the picture being as described. So I cannot specifically answer on details.
My friends laptop works perfectly.

It looks like your friend is transmitting in landscape orientation but your app is interpreting it in portrait mode. Is there a rotate or view mode in your settings?

There is no landscape/portrait mode setting or a rotate setting.
My friend simply has to turn the phone through 90 degrees, but the picture remains as shown by my image.
