Purifying the Consciousness

Reply Fri 30 Aug, 2019 07:43 am

The tendency to act sinfully is a result of our free will, not a result of our having material bodies, and free will is a function of the soul, not a function of the material body.

People sin here on earth (in the material world), and so there are three possibilities regarding Heaven (the spiritual world):

1. God will accept us there along with our free will and sinful desires, and so Heaven, or the spiritual world, will also be full of sin and its concomitant suffering.

2. God will take away our free will, so that Heaven, or the spiritual world, will be full of mindless, desireless automatons that aren't able to sin -- each one no better, and no more alive, than a robot.

or,

3, We will retain our free will, but we will purify our desires before going to Heaven, or before going to the spiritual world, so that we won't even have the desire to sin, and in that way, our ultimate destination will be completely free from sin and its concomitant suffering, and still, we will be fully living beings with free will.

Which option makes more sense for God to ordain -- 1, 2, or 3?

@1GodOnlyOne,
Or, God redefines sin. Or, God forgives us anyway. Or, heaven doesn't exist. Or, heaven and hell exist as one place and we're all tossed in together, like a cosmic salad. Or, God doesn't exist. Or, our thoughts of what's sinful don't correlate with what God cares about (heh, gives a damn about).

@1GodOnlyOne,
Option 3 probably. Its a huge topic and may need an extensive debate but I can try to provide a summary of what I believe.

As we know this life is a test to see who obeys God and who does not. We have free will to do what we want to do. Part of this test is to believe in unseen things like our soul, God, Prophets ( which are now unseen for us), angels, heaven and hell etc. People who deny these unseen things in this world, want to see them to believe in them. They don't realize that it is a test, if these unseen things are shown to everyone then everyone will believe and there is no purpose of our life in this world. This does not mean we can't realize the existence of these unseen things. If we look around and reflect on creation of everything around us, it will be very easy to believe in all these unseen things but it is easy for those who are sincere and who ask God to guide them. One thing which no one can deny is the death. If possible, everyone would try to avoid it but they have no control over it and still people deny the existence of higher power. Alas!

Anyways, back to life after death, Hereafter is eternal and all unseen things will become a reality. People who say there is no God, will have no choice but to accept the fact that there is God. People who deny heaven and hell, will see them with their own eyes and can't deny them. People who believed in the unseen and worked hard to please their God, they will find anything they will wish in the paradise. Happiness in paradise will not be like happiness in this world, because it is going to last forever. In paradise, there will be no ill feelings, no sadness. In Hereafter we will be given a new body, a body which can live forever without getting old or sick. We will not have worldly desires because we will find our ultimate destination (hell or heaven).

@1GodOnlyOne,
Actually, I am. Just because there are potentially more options than you think does not mean I'm wrong.

And, frankly, neither of us can truly know what a deity (if there is one or many or none) has in mind.

@jespah,
Imagine if you have more than one bosses? Imagine if a country has more than one presidents? It will be an absolute chaos.

Yes there is God and we can discuss this further if we need to and that God has to be one.

If there is a god, he/it/she is a bloody ruffian that allows the destruction of the planet by the favored creation and allows wars and other destruction of innocents. I would give this god a kick in the pants if I could find it.

@1GodOnlyOne,
Welcome to A2K. One piece of advice I will give you, before you start to insult other members you might want to have more than 24 hours on the site. One other thing, God isn't fond of people who treat others in a contemptuous fashion.

@edgarblythe,
This is not because of God. It is because of our evil actions and our denial of God.

@HabibUrrehman,
Even though totally innocent victims, such as small children get brutally maimed and or killed. A god can't see the contradiction?

@edgarblythe,
This worldly life is a test and is temporary. We see this on daily basis. How many people die every day. Does anything live forever in this world? No
Do we get absolute happiness in this world? No

The fact that these pains and pleasures coexist is one of the signs of the Hereafter, for divine wisdom has decreed that there should be two abodes: an abode that is devoted fully to pleasure, in which there is no pain at all, and an abode that is devoted fully to pain in which there is no pleasure at all. The former abode is Paradise and the latter abode is Hell.

Going back to your question, who created children? God did. Can He take them back? Absolutely He can. Everyone of us is created by God and some lives in this world for few seconds and some for many years. Each one of us has a different test and some of us are created only as a reminder for others.

Why the kids suffer? To remind us that this world is not a place of absolute peace and happiness. To remind us that everything in this world is temporary and will die or end. These sufferings and tragedies are reminders for people to get back on straight path. The children who are killed or die are in heavens and will remain their happy forever. If someone can find an eternal happiness at the cost of suffering in this world which is temporary then its not a bad deal at all. Compare life of 100 years with infinity will that mean anything?

Everyone who comes in this world, comes with empty hand and when dies leaves the world with empty hands. Only thing which is left is our actions which are saved and will be given to us when we are resurrected. Just like rain water can give life to dead land, similary we will be given life after death when the hour comes.

Some people believe that our life ends when we die and we all become dust. We now know that DNA lives many years after our death and we can track back many things from DNA. This was not know a century ago. If human being with their limited knowledge can track back thing from DNA, do you think our creator can't retrieve all the information from our DNA? Something to think about ....

Why every human being has unique finger prints? Is this just accidental? Something to seriously think about....

@edgarblythe,
I read these two articles yesterday, links below:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/video/watch/life-in-prison-for-stealing-dollar50-now-hes-walking-free/vi-AAGyWwz

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/woman-cleared-of-murder-after-35-years-in-prison-gets-dollar3m/ar-AAGsGUJ?li=BBnbfcL

In both cases a grave injustice has been done to these two individuals. The women who got $3M for spending 35 years in prison is 69 now and may die in a month or so. How is that justice?

In the history there have been people who killed hundreds and thousands and got away with any punishment. They lived happy life and do you think their life just ended at death?

If you think so, then you should not even be questioning the suffering you mentioned in your previous post.

Murderers are not among my concerns. Only innocent victims, who often never have a single day without torture. There can be no justification. There can be no afterlife worthy.

@edgarblythe,
You are right that there is no justification for having same end for an innocent person and a murderer. That is why afterlife makes more sense.

I am also right that no real god would allow such suffering for innocence.

@edgarblythe,
That is right. As I explained it is not the suffering. Its a wake up call for those who are somehow related to these innocent children. The children who go through these trials are in heavens for eternity and will be allowed to intercede for their parents.

@HabibUrrehman,
That's not good enough. Those children should not experience these things at all. Inventing a home for them in paradise is just a cold hearted excuse, not a reason.

@edgarblythe,
You missed the whole point as usual. Do you even have power to create human beings? If God willed, we will not even have kids. This is evident by the fact that many of us try to have kids and we just cant have them. Now if God created us, He also has the right to take us back. Everyone who comes in this world will have to die sooner or later. The death of these kids is just a wake up call for people who love them so much. It is a reminder for them to turn back to God because one day they will also die.

Regarding pain and suffering, even we sometimes make tough decisions for the good of our kids. If any kid is suffering from a disease and we need to have a surgery they we decide that its best for that kid to have surgery knowing that this surgery will hurt the kid. But we still do it because there is hope that the kid may get better.

What appears as suffering to you is not suffering at all for reasons I gave earlier. You just need to look at the other side of the picture and be more rational in your thinking.

@HabibUrrehman,
Your thoughts would make horror for the helpless an acceptable norm. I reject all of them as presented here. Better to grow, then wilt like a flower, here to bloom and then vanish, than partake in a perverted paradise.
