Im 29 and completely useless in social situtions.I can think back on a night out with a big group of people a couple of years back.I suddenly realised ALL my pals were deep in conversation with others and Id been standing there like Billy no mates for a few minutes not knowing what the heck to do.

Theres no point in beating myself up about it.Its was just one of those things, at least I realised it, I have to make an effort.

NEVER feel like your going to be rejected,I hope you dont think other people are better than you.
Just because somebody dominates a conversation it doesnt make them interesting or the best person to listen to, alot of people just like the sound of their own voice.

Whats the worst that can happen??!!If people act like they dont want to talk to you then forget them.
The best thing I ever did was realise that I dont have to be liked by everyone.When at school I thought it was so important for everybody to like me then as I got older I realised we are all different with different personalities,if I dont get on with someone its not the end of the world.

JoeFX says practice.Good advise.Get used to hearing yourself say things and work out the best tone of voice to say them in.
I read some advise which said, take every chance you get, to speak outloud.eg if you went out somewhere let a work colleague know about it.If your thinking of buying a top discuss it with your mum,say whatever you like about it and ask the listeners their opinion.
