This is something I’ve noticed a lot lately and most recently, in Goodfellas. It seems like the Netflix streams of some movies straight up don’t have the proper subtitles or title cards put into the movies themselves. Years/times for example.
I’ve noticed it particularly with Goodfellas where NONE of the important subtitles are present at all in which we know what era/location (and importantly during this film) the date we’re in. The weird thing is that I remember these subtitles being font specific and stylized to match whatever is going on with the scene so wouldn’t that mean it’s part of the actual print and not added after the fact? These are completely absent from the Netflix stream.
It bugs the hell out of me. I’m sure there’s some weird region specific answer (I’m in Canada, for example) but there shouldn’t be any excuse for not properly streaming the intended film.
@rickorton,
Netflix doesn't edit or reedit out things from movies. They only stream versions that the studio or distributors give them the rights to stream. Your criticism should be aimed at them (not the streaming service).
If you believe this is strictly a regional Netflix policy? Test it out by using a very legal VPN service and see from a US server what version of Goodfellas is playing on the US regional servers of Netflix.
