Do you accept this sentence: "Imagine a child immersed in such a hostile environment. What future will this child have?" or it should be: "Imagine a child's future if he will be immersed in such a hostile environment."

I prefer the first sentence, it's gender neutral, the second sentence is overlong. It would be better if certain words were removed.

Imagine a child's future if immersed in such a hostile environment.

Now this is as good as the first sentence, they're both acceptable.
