Something like this would give the opportunity to enjoy the fun and sun . . .

What's the wedding like? Super-fancy, laid back? In a church, in a garden? What time of day?
What sorts of colors and fabrics do you like?

I'm a big fan of the Cruella Deville dress -- straight lines, big cuffs -- might not work for a July wedding, though.

Setanta-you not going there to play, you are being punished for having a fetish about ladies in what looks like victorian swimming attire..
Soz-Er,well, its at the end of July. Not a church wedding but at a grand country house which can do weddings(bride to be is a divorcee)with a posh barn for the reception.
They are having a cowboy/hodown theme(!!!!!)which is not to my tatse so Im not botherd about not blending in.
There colours are red and gold.
I like dark /midnight blue,purple/lilacs or Im going througha chocolate brown stage with baileys and creme colour at the mo.I dont mind any type of fabric as long as its glam.Anthing from linin/muslin to silks.

Hmmmm.
What about lines? Do you prefer something simple and streamlined, something super girly and ruffly?
I'm thinking some sort of lined chiffon with an empirish waist and very swirly skirt.

Setanta- you broke my heart , but then mended it again.
Sozobe-I love chiffon, I also like halternecks which would emply an empire line(ie under the bust-Dont get excited setanta)but I dont really want to go the whole day without a brazier like id have to with a halterneck.
Simple is always good, Im thinking a line to just below the knee but then again I love these wrap round dresses which sometimes have a ruffle on them.
Im one of those people that loves clothes but hates trying things on.It does my nut in.

There are strapless/ backless bras...
You could have just nice thickish straps tho, (1.5 inch say), easy to hide a bra under.
Have you gone to the Vogue pattern website? A great place to get ideas. Do you plan to work from a pattern or just figure things out?

Some ideas (pictures are big and obnoxious, sorry)
V8029
The one on the far right, in a print maybe (not white obviously.)
V2745
Can get a bra under there easily, great way to show off some beautiful silk chiffon. Very summery.

I found if I make something just making it up as I go along, it works out better than planning it.
I have an idea of an A-line type skirt from under the bust downwards. The top bit is a V neck cross over, not straps but the front contiues over the shoulder.Id like to do it in a chocolate or baileys coulour with pearls, diamonds and aurora borealis beads put on it somewher/somehow.
Ok in theory but sacry in practice.
