My school, thankfully, is not tarnished by huge problems with cliques and stereotypes. We have some people who would
like to think they out-do everyone else with their noses in the air and wallets out where everyone can see it, but we're really just laughing at them on their throne.
Academically, and by this I mean the kids the majority of the teachers (excluding the principals - go figure) feel most trustworthy and more intelligent, the freaks run the school. We love every minute of it.
Popularity among peers, it's a close tie between the freaks and the gangsters. It may just be bias, but I find that those of us in the "freak" crowd have much more respect for eachother, ourselves, teachers and the school itself than the image-conscious 'gangsters' who must disrespect authority at any given moment in order to keep their cool.
There is a lot of tension at my school. There is a lot of racial tension (the majority of it "reverse racism"), but the freaks keep it all together. We help the loners with their homework, we walk new kids to their classes, we take care of the disabled students, we respect our teachers, and most of all we are there for eachother. It's the most open-minded, layed back atmosphere I could ask for.
