@pixelrippa,
yarning
burly

I haven't done this one yet so that's more of a guess than anything.

@pixelrippa,
Yacking is quite a common term in the UK for nattering.

@izzythepush,
It's common here too, but that would mean the answer to BRAWNY would be B?C?Y

@cherrie,
Are you sure about the other letters?

All that fits in with that is baccy.

Help is at hand.

There is no way that 23 across can link to the third letter of 2 down.

And everyone except moi hasn't the faintest clue.

@nacredambition,
Why not?
I have the crossword in front of me and the 3rd letter of 2d and the 3rd letter of 23a is where they intersect.

@izzythepush,
I haven't done it yet but they look okay at a quick look.

I'm still going with YARNING and BURLY.

@cherrie,
Had never heard of 'yarning'. Aussies are odd!

@cherrie,
You're probably right, you usually are.

@lmur,
I really had to think about this because I don't think I've ever heard anyone say they were 'yarning'. They would be more likely to say they were 'having a yarn',
as in having a chat.

@izzythepush,
I hope so. I've done that corner of the crossword now and they're the only words that seem to fit, so they're what I'm going with.

@cherrie,
How long will it be before Lovatts reveal the answers? I'll set up a reminder to revisit this.

Thanks Cherie, I will have to go with 'yarning' and 'burly' too.
I agree that "yarning' never crossed my mind, because as you said "it's have a
yarn" with no suffix.

@lmur,
It wont be for about 3 or 4 months. I'll come back with the correct answer when I get it.
