humble bragging and... well as well as ego-boasting/bragging about their life existed before social media... say by a few dozen centuries. It's human nature. People write memoirs for this reason.

Kind of makes you sound like a cynical jackass. Some people share their experiences to inspire others to do the same (go forth and experience
stuff themselves). Some people share their experiences to others who cannot do the same (financial, physical, political reasons that are obstacles to them they can't get around).
People read other people's memoirs for that reason.
