Book Recommendations PLEASE

Just read lots of poetry. Lots. Go to your library, grab a dozen books of poetry, sit down and read some poems in each. When you find poetry that moves you, take that book or books home and study read more. Don't worry about crap like loneliness or drugs - just find what moves or interests you. Find more books you like.

And write poems. Write dozens of them, hundreds of them. No short cuts to any of this.

Books on lawnmower maintenance and the history of model railways.

That is so ridiculous--everyone knows that model railways are hardly poetic at all, especially in comparison to the lyric wealth of lawnmower maintenance.

This is the model night mail crossing the model Border,
Bringing the model cheque and the model postal order,

Model Letters for the model rich, model letters for the model poor,
The model shop at the model corner, the model girl next model door.



Don't tell me that's not what WH Auden wanted to write.
