"She was lying on the couch and she was asleep." or "She was lying on the couch and was asleep." Which one is better or are both OK? THANKS@RESPONDERS!

They're both correct, but neither are very good. As a rule you should try to use as few words as possible to convey something. Every word used must add something.

You could write.

She was lying asleep on the couch.

Or

She was sleeping on the couch

Although in the second one it's only implied she's lying down.
