naaahhhh....that's what the window is for!
One time, I lived in a building that was 1 1/2 stories high (half the lower apartment was underground) and I locked myself out (at night). So I started searching around for something to stand on. Found a table (??) someone had left around the side of the building and put it under the window. It had rained recently so it was all wet and I was wearing boots (the stylish ones, not snow boots) so it was a bit slick. I got up on the table and jumped to grab the window sill. Hanging there ( I am only 5'3"), I managed to open the window with one hand (thank god we'd left it unlocked) and push the screen in. I didn't have enough upper body strength to pull myself up and into the window so I dropped back down, took off my socks and boots, chucked them through the window and jumped back up to hang on the sill. I started climbing up the side of the building (which was brick thankfully and had somewhere to grip), got half way into the window, slipped and cut the hell outta my arms. Finally I managed to get my upper half into the window and then somersaulted into the house.
I've never forgotten my keys again.
