Do events happen in threes as some folks believe?
In the last few days three people in the news have passed away. T.Schaivo, the Pope and Prince Rainier. Did that thought cross you mind?

No! I don't believe that things happen in threes, or at least it
hasn't happened for me.

Actually many more poeple died these past few days,
they just don't make headlines.

Used to when I was younger but not so much anymore. Two is usually it for me and then I have to rest for 15 or 20 minutes.

Yep, I noticed that 'celebs' die in 3's.
Tho Im sure its coincidence, also depends on what you consider as famous/celebs, and they may have been reported on yet not heard the report.

It's so arbitrary, all about degree of renown and inclusive time span.

My great-grandmother's version of the Fatal Rule of Three was three deaths in the family/extended family/close friends. If she approved of a public figure, she'd count that death as one of the three.

This would have been pre-WW I.

The older she got (and the closer to death), the more generous she was about including far-flung family members, beloved pets and public figures.

In our family, it wasn't deaths but simply bad news.

Peter Jennings has cancer, Prince Albert is now on the throne, and Charles and Camilla are getting married. See? Wink

Actually, it does seem as if things around this house break in threes. Currently it's guttering, garage door and...and....uh oh. What's next?

Of course things happen in threes, but one at a time.
