Hello everyone!
I’ve read that all the three options below are possible endings to „My favourite X is…” Is that true? Could you tell me which form/s you would choose when generalising?
My favourite animal is a cat / the cat / cats.
My favourite fruit is a banana / the banana / bananas.
My favourite vegetable is a tomato / the tomato / tomatoes.
My favourite type of film is a comedy / the comedy / comedies.
etc.

This sentence is perfectly fine (albeit a vague one) as cats are a general answer that could cover domestic breeds as well as large wildlife breeds (tigers, lions, jaguars, lynxes, etc...).
