Is that considered to be cheating or not

A few time ago, my girlfriend used to lie on me and tell me she is sleeping in her home while she is hanging out with my school friend alone in cafes and they both planned not to tell me this. The problem is, we live in Egypt. Our culture is a little bit different than USA and she is American. when I found out that she is lying on me and I told her she tried to convince me this issue is not considered to be cheating!!! And tried to convince me as in the American culture people doesn’t consider this to be cheating too! Is that right?
Her excuse for lying on me and hanging with my friend behing my back was that she didn’t want to make issues between me and him.. lol
So my question here, is it really in American culture an issue like this is not considered to be cheating?

Whether you want to call it cheating or not is immaterial. She's a liar. She's untrustworthy. It's all over but the shouting.

Can anyone advice me how to start taking the action of breaking up with her? I tried a lot but I have always failed breaking up with her, same goes for her.. our relation is too unhealthy but both of us can’t leave each other but I realize that I have to at some point.. just can’t take the action it’s too hard. Any advices?

two different issues and questions there.

1. it's fine in many cultures for men and women to hang out together, without being in a relationship.

fair enough that she didn't want to upset you

2. it's not fine to lie.

not fair to lie about the hang-outs

if you'd been cool about her time with your other friend, she might not have felt the need to lie. you both have some work to do here before you get into future relationships.

Do you work together/go to school together/live together?

If not, there is no reason for you to be in contact with her.

Tell her you are breaking up and then go full no-contact. That means blocking her on all devices and on all social networks.

Move on.
