How much money is spent by pharmaceutical companies each year on television advertising?
Would that money be considered taxable income if it wasn't spent on advertising?

I meant "PROFIT" (not "income")

@Ponderer,
Money spent on adverting is a business expense and is tax deductible, but if you don't advertise, you will get fewer sales so lower profit. If you believe in a completely efficient business, then a business advertises at the exact rate necessary to optimize profit, so less advertising => less sales => less taxes.

@engineer,
Thank you. I understand that it is a business, and therefore about optimizing profit. I really didn't expect an answer. The questions were just for consideration.

From the poem Waiting for the Waiter- (last lines)

One picks up his gleaming fork
As the waiter pops the cork.

@Ponderer,
Earlier lines-

One man sells his car for pills.
Another profits from the ills.
