Copy 4 things out of the TV - replay some of the first 3 good ones. Then I copied a fourth and after 45 minutes, the recorder stopped and said "failed". That was just the right moment, so I tried to finish it but it would not and now it will not play any back. It looks like there's almost a quarter inch left, but it just says the disk is not valid and will not open on either a DVD burner or a music player or computer with a dvd mini or Memorex DVD drive. Can I save my recordings?

I don't think you can save a failed dvd recording. It happened to me while trying to record some videos from my computer. It is probably due to a faulty dvd disc. When I put in a new disc, it recorded with no problems. Some dvd discs have more recording capacity than others.
