I have this system at my house. I got sucked in to buying it a few years back. It ran fine and never had any issues. Now in the last year i have had several problems with it. The latest is the "Motor/Sensor #1 Failure Alarm (Code 102). i have searched the internet and cannot find a thing about this. i believe i had the same exact issue 3 months ago and again 3 months prior to that. each time they have charged em about $180.00 to come out an look at the system. The last time the tech mentioned her replaced o-rings that had been pinched. That sounds to me like the guy prior had installed them incorrectly. He also mentioned that i have roughly 70 psi coming in to my house form the city and I may need to put a PRD(pressure Reducing Valve) in to step the water pressure down. That is why the o-rings are going bad he says. If this si the case why was I not made aware of this when they installed it originally? Why has this unit been fine for 3 years and now all of a sudden i have too much pressure? Someone enlighten me. This thing cost $5,000.00 and I feel like i am getting hosed at $180.00 every 3 months for $10.00 worth of o-rings and a guy to be at my house for less than 30 minutes.

@afish70,
I got the same error code on my EC5 on October 3rd, but I only just noticed it last night. The only motor I can find in the schematic (in the owner's manual) is part 51921, "RPS MOTOR GEAR DRIVE ASSEMBLY". So if the error code is right, then replacing that motor should do the trick. My local technician charges $98 for the first 15 minutes, and then charges by the minute after that. I was thinking I could get a new part under the warranty, and then just replace it myself. However, I'm having trouble finding the part online. I've reached out to Rainsoft customer service to ship me the part. We'll see if they do. The "lifetime" warranty is pretty useless if you have to pay hundreds of dollars all the time just keep this thing running.

@taelton,
I was able to remove the bad motor. It is super easy. Just pull the front of the control panel off, unplug the motor from the circuit board, and loosen two screws holding the motor in place. My local dealer is going to ship the part back to the manufacturer (I will drop it off at their office), and they are going to order a replacement for me. I only have to pay shipping/processing, which hopefully won't be that much, and then pick up the part from their office. My fear is that the manufacturer will say that the motor isn't broken. If that is the case, then I'll have to pay for a technician. Fingers crossed!
