Definitely the sounds of the ocean...
Where I grew up, the only thing between our house and the ocean was just a pea-patch. I spent every day at the beach after school doing my homework or just reading. And most days there was no one around for miles up and down the beach. It was wonderful!

Even now, living further inland, I never go to sleep without my ocean sounds cd playing softly in the background.

When a woman settles into your arms and and goes "mmmmmm". If I were chocolate I'd melt all over her.

What a nice thread.

It would be hard for me to pick just one. Here are some sounds that I like-

Waking to birds chirping, as opposed to an alarm clock (what a difference)

Being in a dark room at night, with the exception of the light from a fireplace or wood stove, all is quiet, except for the random crackling of the fire. (Let's not forget the warmth that radiates, it's a package deal!) Gotta like that :-)

Also, the sounds the ocean makes when the tide is rising, or coming in, the sound of the waves lapping the shore, I love waking up to that.

Last but not least, certain pieces of music send me.

My first thought was waves on the shore but I have to agree with msolga about the purring too - so contented and soothing.

sounds that are soothing to me:

Arrow air (slighty strong wind) going through trees

Arrow my favorite music (I love Jazz)

Arrow rain (thunderstorms)

Arrow birds chirping (a sign of a healthy spring)

Arrow nighttime (silence)

I'll agree with superjuly Wink

When I'm restless and stressed out, I'll go done to
the beach and listen to the sound of the waves.
