Aggressive Cat

My friend's granddaughter's cat recently attacked the grandmother (dr. wanted to put stiches, but she refused). She has also bitten owner. She has always been aggressive. I remember an episode on My Cat From Hell that was similar. I think they decided the cat had a neurological problem and put her on meds. I can't find any info on this. Anybody know?
