Please tell me if I am on target for the description of this old oil painting. I am not interested in value. What I see: impressionism using palette knife and impasto, an old stretched cotton weave canvas stapled to wood frame that dates it to late 19th century or early 20th century (1870s - 1920s?), oil paint seems to flake and crack. Very intriguing when standing about 12 - 15 feet away were it comes into clearer view. This picture was taken about 6 feet away. Any closer and the scene becomes a bit confusing. Possible artist signature (second picture) but I can't make it out. What what description details am I missing such as impasto, brush, etc.? I'm learning. Thank you!
