Northern Monkeys & Southern fairies - mythological creatures surely?
It's unclear when exactly the historic north-south cultural divide in Britain took form but in my new trilogy of historical novels; Iron Blood & Sacrifice, I propose that this deep division which takes many forms today, was first inspired by King Caswallawn of the Southern Brythons in 54 BC.
His notorious exclusion of the northern tribal triad from the second defence of Britain, which had answered the call to arms on Caesar's first visit, drove an immovable wedge between the northern and southern kingdoms that remains to this day, more than two thousand years later.
No surprise people accuse us Britons of carrying a grudge too long!
Your thoughts?
