I'm so proud

Have to do a little bragging. My daughter defended her master's thesis (cognitive psychology with a minor in statistics) today and, of course, it took the committee all of one minute to accept it. It just makes me so very proud of her and all she's accomplished and will accomplish (she's moving on immediately towards her doctorate). Wow, what a wonderful feeling. Thanks for letting me share.

Oh bandylu2- How wonderful!

This is the time of your life when you will reap the rewards for all the hard work, love and caring you put into her when she was a kid. Congrats!

Does she go to school on L.I.? I got my bachelor's at Adelphi, and my masters' at Hofstra!

Pass along my congradulations.

Don't you just love that phrase? 'Defended her thesis'. Nothing passive about that.

Thanks, guys. Phoenix, she goes to UMass at Amherst and they are paying her to go there. She went to SUNY Binghamton for her undergraduate degree. While I wish she were a little closer so I'd get to see her a little more, she's not so far that she can't make it home for a weekend here and there.

Wonderful, Bandylu. Obviously her XX chromosomes are set for "incisive" and "articulate".

And to think I was the one who encouraged her scientific curiosity by allowing her to collect water bugs (as long as they stayed outside).

'Water bugs' ~ that is too cool, bandylu.....

I'm a native Long Islander and cannot get used to calling Water bugs 'rollie pollies' ~ can't tell you how many times I've gotten funny looks from people here in FL because of that!

rae, I can't imagine anyone calling any bug rollie pollies. 'Bugs are yucky.' (quote from my highly educated daughter after she outgrew her bug stage).

quinn, I am thoroughly enjoying it.

Congratulations, to your daughter, and to you, Bandylu. Without your love and support, you know...

I have two in university, and I think that they have to work MUCH harder than we did.

Thank you mckenzie and welcome (I see you've just joined us). They do have to work harder -- more competition, more stuff to learn, too.
