I also splurge on things that make my life easier - like a

me a freshly brewed cup by pressing only a singly button,
and I splurge on a housekeeper as I hate doing it.

CJ does it look something like this. Very Happy
I splurged on this unit a while ago, it was worth every penny.

When I splurge, I splurge -- we splurged on the house and until I get a job or hubby gets a raise, we can't afford to splurge on anything else. My idea of splurge is to buy $40 boots (after 70% discount) with gift money that was earmarked for new clothes.

Great house, though! :-)

Believe me Soz, I feel ya. Once we bought the house, my splurging priorities completely shifted. I had to force myself to buy clothes. Every dime went on the house. Furniture. Housewares. Home accessories. And six years later, nothing much has changed. I love shopping for my home.

It's great. :-)

For now, though, every dime is just going for house payments. Hubby the genius mistakenly estimated how much he would be making per month -- to be fair, it doesn't make sense, weird academic year (9-month) salary and then 2-month summer salary. He thought he'd be making 1/12 of the total annual salary every month, in fact he's making 1/12 of just the academic year salary, then gets more on top of that in the summer. Or something. I'm confused, too.

Anyway, much less money than we expected, so we're barely making it but have to keep belts TIGHT until the summer salary kicks in.

food.

my mom always said if you need to cut corners and save money, never do it on food. buy what you need ...and well, I do. A lot of it. I hate running out of things, so I have 2 of many things. I also never know when I'll need something, so I have "it" just in case.

You've got the Rolls Royce model sublime, mine is a SAECO (italian brand),
friends of mine have a Miele built into the kitchen cabinets, that's a nice
one too. But no matter what brand, they're all worth every penny. Smile

I like living in the woods, but when one lives in the woods the local supermarkets tend towards Velveeta cheese and Lipton tea and generic bags of tasteless gumdrops.

I'm just back from a supply trip to a Wegman's, 25 miles away, with imported cheese and exotic tea and several bags of candy made with sugar rather than corn syrup. Pricy? Yes, but these goodies will last until the middle of spring.

By the by, for those of you who binge on books, when you feel a book binge coming on, go to:

http://www.able2know.com/ , the A2K home page, scroll down, and enter Amazon with that link. A2K gets a small percentage of your purchase price.
