Found a small white plastic disk (about the circumference of a penny and a centimeter high) with one black wire and one white wire coming out of it, nothing attached to it. Does anyone know what this could have been used for or connected to? The ends of each of the wires are exposed

I am asking because I did not place it there, and it is near an outdoor shower

My guess is that someone ran some conduit for a wall outlet and never used it. Are the wires live? If not, is there a breaker in your box that is off? It could be that it was never wired on either end.

Thank you for the quick response. I’m not sure how to tell if the wires are live. They were hanging off the side decking of the outdoor shower near the base, but there are not outlets or walls around. No breakers are odd to my knowledge.

You can test if they are live with a voltmeter. A hardware store will sell those or you can probably borrow one from a neighbor. My guess is the builder ran wire then never connected it.
