Excuse my ignorance but while supporting a friend whos son has come out as gay many people were in disagreement whether one is born like that or is it a lifestyle choice or can it be both genuinely want to know from people who know

Why are opinions about the reasons for sexuality of interest to you?

Most gay people's initial thought is one of denial. Then guilt before they finally can accept who they are and move on, many still stay in the closet. Nobody wants to be different, have other people point at them and tell homophobic jokes.

It's definitely not a lifestyle choice, the very notion is absurd.
