can anyone imagine about a nation without armed force? as far as i know, Japan doesnt have a military troop other than the self-defence force.
in case of an immediate attack, they'll have to struggle a lot.
another fact is that the american troops camp in the okinawa, one of the southern islands.

The US has expended all their resources on the Iraq war. It has cost over $350 Billion so far, not to mention the loss of countless lives. We can't even defeat a small country with all our military might. Japan is doing itself a favor by not having a huge military presence.

We need allies. Keeping our military for Japan ensures this. If we pull out - who knows what what will happen...

This world and politics aren't a simple matter of, "Hmm, too expensive...we must pull out." There are many factors to consider. As of right now, Japan is benefiting from our military presence. We are benefiting from trade, support, friendly-terms and many more.
