GeneralTsao -- hardly surprising that nobody wears seatbelts in those old movies. Cars had no seatbelts back then. That's why, to this day, FAA reguations require flight attendants to explain and demonstrate to passengers on airplanes how to fasten a seatbelt. Most people flying for the first time back then had never seen a seatbelt. In the 1960s, seatbelts became optional equipment in American made cars. You paid extra if you wanted them installed; it wasn't done at the factory. Laws requiring seatbelts didn't start to be enacted until the 1980s.

I recently flew from Atlanta to Columbia, SC (don't remember what airline any more) and we had a great flight attendant, male, who looked like a retired USMC drill sergeant. He began his spiel thus: "I have to explain this to you folks because the FAA passed this regulation back in 1947 when seatbelts were not common. Today, of course, if you don't know how to fasten a seatbelt, you have no business being out in the light of day unsupervised. But, rules is rules, so..."

Then he went on to explain how the life-jackets work. "We will be flying over a dozen fair-sized lakes and just hundreds of backyard swimming pools. So, there is a million-in-one chance that in the case of an emergency, there could be a splashdown in water. That's why you have to know how these life-vests work. First, stop screaming. Next..."

Remember Lucky greens. They changed the spot to red during the war.

I remember, edgar. And the new slogan was "Lucky Strike Green has Gone to War." For the young fry out there, edgar is speaking of WW II when he says "the war."

I'd rather fight than switch.

How come the poor schmuck always looked like he lost the fight?

I think I remember Charleton Heston hawking Viceroy. And who could forget the Flintstones smoking Winston. "Winston tastes good, like a cigarette should."

Listen while I tell you a story,
the tale of the Marlboro brand.
It came out of Richmond, Virginia one day
and spread clear across the land.

@deadlysiren911,
Lyrics are:

And now, let me tell you a story,
A tale of the Marlboro brand,
It came out of Richmond, Virginia one day,
And spread clear across the land...
Now everywhere is Marlboro country,
Everywhere in the USA,
From Philadelph-I-A to the San Francisco Bay
And getting bigger... all over.. this great big land,
The big flavored Marlboro brand!
