It's from the Good Soldier by Ford Madox Ford and the sentence is "I filled up one of his eyes." Context: A gentleman was angered when his servant accidently dropped a box so he rushed to his side and then this sentence followed. The next sentence was "And I threatened to strangle him." So my guess was that he punched him in the eye but I'm not sure.
I'm translating the novel into Chinese so I need to get every detail right. Any input is welcomed. Thank you all!
Yes. Punched him in the eye so that it swelled up and closed.
Are you sure you translated the first sentence correctly?
Maybe it is: I stared at him or I looked him in the eye.
