Negative Thoughts and Extreme Emotions

Hey folks, I need your insights please.

When I was young, I am unable to manage my emotions. I easily get angry and I throw things that I am holding sometimes. These things maybe a phone, money, brush, etc. I easily changes my mood from happy to aloof if I noticed something not so favorable to me. My challenge is, I am 23 now and it is still the same. I am still unable to manage my emotions. In my romantic relationship now, I often doubt my partner even though all the time my assumptions are not true. I easily get jealous when he treats someone (friend, colleague) better than me and I never forget his past mistakes like telling a lie, not being on time, telling me that I am like his father (nagger). ALmost on a weekly basis, we have an argument. For this week, we argued 4 times about different issues. We are like this since we started our relationship 4 months ago.

How do we control extreme emotions (anger and jealousy) and negative thoughts/assumptions?

You are either having temper tantrums when you don't get your way or you could have a physical/mental condition that doesn't allow you to see issues and remain calm.

Did you have an evaluation when you were young for this explosive behavior?

Didn't have an evaluation. My mom works abroad and my dad is busy with his other woman. No one looked after me as I grow up. My parents role is just to provide what I need (food, money, shelter and clothes)

I suggest you make a journal about emotions and write down each major negative emotion you have everyday.
- When
- How did you feel then?
- What made you upset, mad, etc.
- Learn to dialogue to your inner world, and you possibly find out why your emotions swing dramatically.
- I assume there's a need for you to fill for each negative emotion. Find out what it is.

You probably subconsciously realise the major problem about your emotional swing is likely due to the family that made your emotional tank empty and you feel inscure all the time...

Or you might record each major emotional swing in this thread, so that the folks might possbily give you some specific suggestions.

I think emotions including negative emotions are our friends. They are something like physical pains which tell us there are something wrongs in our bodies, so that we are aware of taking care of ourselves.

Have you ever thought that you just might be in a crappy relationship? Maybe he is just not the one for you.

Somewhere along the way, you gave yourself permission to act out the way you do. You told yourself it was okay. You now have to take it back and undo it.
