How you 'mem' its name, imagine the fish swimming around in a pipe under a city devoted exclusively to the activities enjouyed many of our prominent figureheads

Nobody's keeping it a "secret". Carpal tunnel syndrome is a well known and documented side-effect of melatonin, especially for people where one or more of these is true: female, 60+ old , have been taking the drug for 1 - 6 months, also take Lyrica, and have narcolepsy.

Because you are forgetful? It is inaccurate, as far as I can see, to say that taking melatonin "causes" carpal tunnel syndrome, if by that you mean that everybody who takes melatonin is bound to get carpal tunnel. It seems to be a very usual side effect.

I meant to write a "very unusual side effect" which is probably why they don't put it in the patient information leaflet (you do have these in the USA?)

As for the other... the one that isn't yours (Factmed) shows these statistics:

Quote:
information from Food & Drug Administration and FactMed user submissions. Between January 2004 and October 2012, 1 individuals taking MELATONIN reported CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME to the FDA. A total of 2351 MELATONIN drug adverse event reaction reports were made with the FDA during this time period.

That's ONE out of 2351 reports to FDA. In nearly 9 years.
