This computer has no sound. When I go to start and get to the hardware, it checks the driver and reports it is working normally. Clicking the icon at screen bottom, it is set high and also reports it is working. I went to one site that offered a sound driver for free, but ended up with a pay request, which I almost did, except there was a setting that would have allowed them to monitor the computer and automatically charge me for stuff. My settings has the Windows Updates set to update the drivers. What am I missing?
@edgarblythe,
I ran into something similar, and believe I had to go to Device Manager and actually had to reselect that particular. I'm kind of hazy about computer stuff, but I believe that's what I had to do after a HD crash back in September. Anyhow, do make sure it's actually selected.
@roger,
I will go and check, but I think I did that. Not that I have much idea what I'm doing here.
I bought a driver package, because there were four not working. This windows 7 system is no longer supported. Since I last wrote here, I did the system restore, hoping to solve the driver problem. It multiplied my problems, because that erased my windows 8 upgrade. I have been trying to install windows 10, but so far it fails to finish the upload.
