Hi!
Only we have this roles for 'will':
-certainty in the future, conditional sentences, intentions and decisions, willingness and offers, requests and invitations, commands,
And also, we use will for immediate intentions and decisions. and we use 'be going to' when we have already made a plan.
Which role of 'will' is used for the bold part?
You won't forget to take the cake out of the oven, will you?
Intention or decision. This is a form of question which is expressed in the form of a positive statement (which could be a hope or expectation) followed by a negative "question tag". It is generally used to seek confirmation or agreement.
He’s a doctor, isn’t he?
You work in a bank, don’t you?
You won’t tell anyone, will you?
In your example, 'will' forms part of a statement about the future intentions of the other person, which the speaker hopes will be confirmed as true.
@centrox,
Thanks a lot Centro. Most appreciated.
Can you please eplain about role of "won't" in that sentence?
