Which is correct:
The cleanup of the roof debris was completed.
or
The clean up of the roof debris was completed.
"Cleanup" as a common noun is acceptable, and very likely to be used by a native speaker. I have a problem with "roof debris," however. Debris is not "stored" on a roof, and without context to explain the presence of debris on the roof, it looks very odd.
Edit: A native speaker would be more likely to write: ". . . the debris on the roof . . . "
@dabbadabba,
This is a roof replacement job, right?
In this context, to talk about the cleanup of the debris left over from the job is understood.
