So I have been paying $300.00 a week for the last past 2 years since me and my ex wife split. Me ex lives in another state then I do. I see my son as much as I can currently considering I pay almost 300 a week for child support and half of daycare. I only gross 60k a year, so this slowly killing me. I a, trying to keep afloat with bills and support working almost 60 hours a week. My ex had insurance for my son through the state until now cause the state finally realized she has a job. Everything we agreed on by a lawyer and now she wants me to pay an extra 120 a week for my sons insurance. I told her to go through the state for child support and I would get him insurance due to I might switch jobs and at least all will be fair to both of us cause honestly after speaking with serveral people I am paying to much. So after me telling my ex this she has not let me talk to my son and canceled a trip for me to get him for thanksgiving
I am heartbroken and don't know what to do
I don't have an extra 3000 for a lawyer so I really need some advise for anyone that can help me
Out of options

@Jfreas,
I would pay $100 or $150 to a lawyer I trusted for an hour of his or her time. That way you are paying for an honest consultation (rather than a sales pitch). Then I would have the lawyer tell me how to go forward. Believe me, this information will be well worth it.

If the lawyer tell you that you have a good chance to win, then you should proceed. Of course if that happens, the money will pay for itself.

Your ex canceling Thanksgiving is really awful. Do you have a parenting agreement that guarantees your time with your son? If you don't... you should. If you do, then make sure you show that to the lawyer.

You really need to talk to a lawyer. I have been able to find a good lawyer that I can consult on a per hour basis.

SHE cannot prevent you from seeing your child. If the divorce papers or custody papers speak about holiday time, then enforce it.

How was the $300 a week decided upon? That doesn't sound right.

You need to petition the court for a hearing and try to get your child support settled and visitation schedule straight.

$300 a week seems excessive for one child if you make $60,000 a year.

See a lawyer.
