I love my job. The hours are great, I'm well respected, award winning, appreciated, I like the work itself. But, I'm in love with my direct supervisor. Obviously I can't express those feelings, as it would be unprofessional and could cause more problems, but it hurts so much to work so closely with someone and have those feelings go unreciprocated. What do I do? Continue to bury the feelings? In a year I'll need a different job because of an internship program, should I just leave now?
No, you shouldn't leave. You need this job/educational experience.
It's not unusual to get a crush on a superior. That position, power and role model is what you want to be, what you admire, and what you think is wise.
This person's role requires that he/she surrounds him/herself with people who follow them and make them look good. That's you right now. No wonder you crush on this person!
See this for what it is.
@106vegan,
Stick it out for the year. So much of work crushes is situational, it's not funny. Once you leave, it is highly likely you'll wonder why you were so worked up about this person.
