I was thinking of finding some other interest to try though I am not sure what I want. I think someone would be more interested to be with me if I am an interesting person. Does anyone have any advice on this. Thanks.
My first advice is that you stop using the word "though" at the end of sentences. You're using it incorrectly, and it stands out like a sore thumb.
I agree that being a more interesting person would be good. You'll need some native charm and poise, too, so that you can chat with others without feeling or acting awkwardly. I have an idea which might allow you to kill two birds with one stone. Your English is pretty good, but it won't hurt to improve it. For that, I suggest reading plays in English, if you have access to a good library where you can find the texts of plays in English. I would recommend the plays written by Neil Simon, as you would be able to pick up ordinary conversational English. It would also give you something to talk about, and many of Neil Simon's plays have been made into films, so you could get the videos, and watch them as well. Films, especially comedies, are a safe conversational topic.
Here are some of his plays which were made into motion pictures:
Barefoot in the Park
Sweet Charity
The Odd Couple
Plaza Suite
The Sunshine Boys
Although those plays are from the 1960s (The Sunshine Boys is from 1972), the conversational English has not changed.
@asiangal555,
What are your interests? There are clubs and organizations for almost any interest often in your own community, college, library or church group.
@cicerone imposter,
Thanks for your advice. My interests are reading, hiking, and drawing things. I guess I should maybe try some kind of organization with one of those. I think it would be cool if I can talk more about what my interests are to other people. I think it may take awhile.
@asiangal555,
You can maintain all of your interests for the rest of your life. My hobby became world travel after I served in the USAF in Morocco, and got the opportunity to visit Madrid, Paris and London in the late 1950s. The ambiance and environment of those cities has transformed into something much different after visiting some 30 to 50 years later. I have since then visited about 113 countries. I was able to combine my love of travel with being able to visit many famous art museums. I have visited the Louvre in Paris, the Hermitage in St Petersburg (Russia), the National Gallery in London, Guggenheim in NYC, and the Prado in Madrid. Many others in Europe, Asia and the US. I also love reading, and now reading "Outposts" by Simon Winchester, one of my favorite authors. After awhile, you'll find connections of places you have visited and what you read. I remember seeing a monument of Captain Cook on the Hawaiian Islands in Kauai, and visiting the Maritime Museum in Greenwich, England, many years later, and seeing a painting of the Polynesians killing Captain Cook.
