Do you have art classes at your school or in your home town? They don't have to be in gaming or animation, and it's probably better if they're not. I am talking about anything two-dimensional, such as drawing and painting, as opposed to three-dimensional artwork such as sculpture or pottery.
Learn perspective, how to draw the human body, where the muscles go and how they move. Learn about shadow, tone, tint, and shade. Learn about complementary and opposite colors and how to design things like logos.
