I have a PCB mount transformer,the primary winding is 120/240.The secondary side is multi voltage:33v 0v,13.5v 0v,2.7v 0v 2.7v,9v 0v 9v.The total consumption is 25watts how do I calculate Amps?.Do I have to divide 25watts with all primary voltage separately to get amps for each Secondary voltage?.Please someone help me with this.

Yes. You mean maximum amps, I think. You can share the 25 Watts among the secondary windings.

@centrox,
I mean divide 25 watts with each winding in secondary to get amps for each secondary to find out total VA?.

You already know the maximum total VA for all windings. Not sure what you are asking.

@Divendra,
Div, hope Cen can help ya some more; but I'm still kinda confused about '33v 0v,13.5v 0v,2.7v 0v 2.7v,9v 0v 9v'

I suspect the transformer has multiple separate windings
33v 0v
13.5v 0v
2.7v 0v
2.7v,9v 0v
9v 0v

As opposed to one winding with 0v being one end and the other voltages taken from taps along that single winding.

@centrox,
Thanks Cen, I kinda guessed that one might be tapped
But I'm still wonderin'

. I think yes. Frinstance if you had a 25-v winding, it'd be capable of 1 amp

But div what's ov

Quote:
All has separate 0v:
0v 33v.
0v 13.5v.
2.7v 0 2.7v.
9v 0 9v
.

Aha, returnin' to respond, now I see you have two of 'em, while it's becoming clear what 'ov' means. It's always bothered me in some typefaces where zero looks just like lower-case 'o' [ 0v ov ] Yeah, sure do don't they

@centrox,
All has separate 0v:
0v 33v.
0v 13.5v.
2.7v 0 2.7v.
9v 0 9v.
So how should I divide 33 divide 25watts or 25watts divide by 33 to get amps for each of every winding in secondary then multiply each winding with the amps to get wire gauge?.

@centrox,
I think I made a mistake in describing.So I have to divide 25watts by 33v or 33v by 25watts to get the amps so I can get the amps to know the wire gauge in secondary.

@Divendra,
I'm sure Cen will help you with confusion abot multi/div. But I don't think you can just multi amps by some number to get gage. Thain ya hafta look'y'p

To know amps, divide watts by volts. Example: 1000 watts, 250 volts, 4 amps

@centrox,
For secondary I have to divide 25watts by 33v =0.757 Amps.

@Divendra,
There y'go, Div. However, once so loaded, you can't use other windings

@dalehileman,
What do you mean can't use other windings?.

if you are extracting 25 watts from one winding, that is the maximum permtted power from the transformer, and getting any more power from one or more other windings would make the power use exceed the transformer's rating.

@centrox,
So can I send you the schematics for luxman D105u so you will know better what I am describing?.Please tell me I will attach the pdf.
