Help Identify Artist

The name seems Indian and the subject seems Southeast Asian, Burma or northern Thailand, perhaps.

I think that may be a clue but probably impossible to figure out who the artist could be. I do not come across much artwork from artist from India. Thanks for replying!

I was searching the artists name and while I got no hits on it regarding art I got lots of Burmese, Indian, Thai persons with that name.

I collect fabric and the clothing in the painting looks like some of the Burmese pieces I have.

Hi Emmett- that's wonderful as it truly helps determine possible origin of the piece. I was previously thinking South America or Central America however the photos you provided clearly show similarities with the clothing depicted in the artwork. Many thanks for all your help! -Mike

I wish there were more I could do.

One thing might be to contact the Myanmar Embassy and see if you might be able to get a list of Burmese artists from the cultural affairs attache. He/she might even know of the specific artist. I've done this myself regarding other other topics and have had good luck.

From the look of the canvas in the signature photo it seem like the artist is very competent in his techniques.

This might just turn into another tourist piece but it seems like a very nice painting to me.
