Sometimes when you transliterate Chinese characters to Pinyin, there is more than one transliteration. How do you know which one to use when you are transliterating certain words?
For example, in Taiwanese, "minx" is 輕佻女子.
How do you know whether to transliterate 輕佻女子 to qing tiao ru zi, or to qing tiao nu zi?

Yeah, Pinyin is used to write foreign words and also new words. But I can never understand it. I asked a Chinese speaker how they write astronaut in Chinese, she didn't know.
