Caribbean shells washing up in Devon, UK

Barricane Beach, North Devon, UK has unusual shells not found on the two neighbouring beaches (I've been there). Beach info states they are washed up from the Caribbean via the Gulf stream. Difficult to know where to start looking for any science about this. Any help please? Is this plausible and why are they deposited so precisely...

@MERCAPTOETHANOL,
I hope to see good answers to this. The Gulf Stream is certainly an influential current.

ETA: interesting username, by the way.
