Carl Cogar - Artist Info

Hello members. I'm wondering if anyone has any information on this artist. I was able to find examples of his works at http://www.cogarfineart.com/Art/Paintings-by-Carl-Cogar-1921/ and a few works for sale at a gallery in El Paso, TX. The gallery pricing on Carl Cogar's works is interesting as I cannot seem to find anything by this artist having sold. However there is a good possibility my resources to research thoroughly are lacking. Looking forward to hearing back from anyone with info on this artist or who have works by this artist. Many thanks!

@emmett grogan,
Thank you for your reply. I am very interested in his landscape paintings but cannot seem to find much in private collections or galleries.

@mikeerce,
Try googling 'artist carl cogar' and 'artist robert carl cogar'.

He was a teacher and some of his students are more prominent than he. I find his painting too undetailed and broad.

@mikeerce,
Mike,

I studied with and was close friends with Carl Cogar and his wife, Helen. I have several paintings (oil and watercolor) by Carl. I would be happy to talk with you and supply information.

@emmett grogan,
I was happy to hear the interview, thank you for sharing. I studied under Carl Cogar in the late 70's early 80's and have several of his drawings. What a wonderful interesting man he was. He lived in Las Cruces at the time and came into El Paso to hold our group gathering. I visited him in Las Cruces and he had a huge warehouse full of paintings and small model planes and flying machines he had built. I have some drawings he did of buildings in Paris. It seems much of his early work was different than the landscapes he painted later, and he told me he had been more an impressionistic painter. I know that his paintings at one time were being sold out of New York. Among the beautiful drawings is one of a Rabbi and another of a baby, he told me was his child. Miss him!
